CDKs Advertising Online Ordering System (OOS) was outdated, inflexible, and becoming a financial burden. Due to poor usability, accidental orders were frequently placed, and clients relied too heavily on the advertising campaign support from CDKs Dealer Advocate Agents (DAA).
Offer dealers a flexible, customizable digital advertising package system, and create a more intuitive and reliable method for dealerships to order and manage their advertising campaigns.
CDK saw an opportunity to lower their internal costs by minimizing the responsibilities of DAAs and giving dealerships more control over their advertising campaigns.
Upon validating our assumptions and ideas with users, the following key findings were identified:
Users needed to know their current advertising package, as well as the amount of money being spent on advertising.
Users required a mobile friendly way of comparing advertisement package offerings and package features.
A process to certify the accuracy of orders prior to submission was required to prevent accidental orders being placed. And, users needed clear direction at the end of the ordering process to clarify the next steps.

ADVERTISING ORDERING DASHBOARD
To keep users informed, the OOS dashboard overview highlights a user’s current advertising package as well as their current digital advertising budget.
To help users manage their advertising campaigns, we created a streamlined workflow that allowed users to set their budget and choose an advertising package using a simple, four-step process.

To build a relationship with users and understand their goals, objectives, and pain-points our team conducted one-on-one user interviews, and contextual inquiries by observing users while placing advertising orders using the current solution.
EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE USER VALIDATION
We used low fidelity prototypes to quickly iterate and validate our ideas and assumptions with users.
