Working as a product designer, UX researcher, and UX lead for over 10 years, I have discovered what works and what doesn’t work in user experience leadership. Here are a few of my core UX leadership beliefs and principles:

Leadership

STRATEGIC EXECUTION

As a leader, I approach UX as a strategic discipline, vital to the product development process. I lead my team to incorporate critical thinking, user research, and cross-functional team collaboration to establish design standards as well as shape and execute product direction.

INFLUENCING PRODUCT EXECUTION

I participate in the building of design strategies and product roadmaps, and convey those strategies to my team through presentations during kick-off meetings and development inception meetings.

DESIGN WORKSHOPS

As a Product Designer, I facilitate design workshops which involve everyone’s participation, from sketching out ideas to voting and deciding what to prototype.

HANDS-ON

I’m a design leader, not a design manager. I stay closely connected with my teams, and work hand-in-hand with them through a collaborative design process.

DESIGN BUSINESS VALUE

To secure funding for the UX department and to demonstrate the value of user experience and usability improvements, I present project business values and ROIs to company stakeholders.

OPTIMIZING UX PROCESS

I increased the value of UX deliverables and the recognition of the global UX department by designing a set of UX templates that streamlined the design process and improved collaboration and documentation between cross-functional teams.

“Look to Igor for leadership, due diligence and results. Igor's skill set scales with the project he's faced with and will provide the best roadmap to success, hands down. Most importantly, he loves what he does.”

Collaboration
COMMUNICATION

Maintaining a cohesive and collaborative workflow between teams requires clear written and verbal skills, excellent organization, and well documented and easily-accessible design deliverables.

PROMOTE COHESION

To promote cohesion and consistency between design and development teams, I led efforts to create Design Systems for two major enterprise applications.

TEAM WORK

To define and build viable solutions that solve both user and business needs, requires strong collaboration with stakeholders, SMEs, designers, and developers.

COLLABORATIVE TOOLS

To help support communication and documentation, I use tools such as Slack, Zoom, Jira and Confluence to stay connected with my team and clients.

SCRUM MEETINGS

I facilitated and participated in daily standup meetings, bi-weekly scrum meetings, and weekly client meetings to improve team collaboration, performance, and synchronization.

WORKING REMOTELY

I have three years of experience working remotely with cross-functional teams located around the world.

“Igor works well with Product Managers and has the ability to take concepts and ideate on them to a fine detail. His enthusiasm and proficiency for design has a notable impact on his work and team, making him a valuable resource to any organization.”
